A New Website Server
A new website server may sound alien to the non-technical visitor. Plus, nothing looks different. Only a trained blog writer would know how to see the difference.

It doesn’t matter. The most important thing about the migration from GoDaddy.com to WordPress.com is that I did it myself. That is nothing less than miraculous since I do not consider myself a technical person.
The whole thing took about a week and was an exhausting endeavour. I wanted to keep my blog and continue to write blog posts as a legacy and for the fun of it.
But due to my very frugal retired state, there was no way I could keep my GoDaddy setup of over $800/year. With support from friends, colleagues, and even GoDaddy itself, I found a way to migrate my site to WordPress for about $50/year. Yes, this is accurate. It is less than 10% of the former price.
I am sure some additional things will come up that will slightly raise the current price. But the savings are a lifesaver.
What is the most important lesson here? I accomplished something on my own that I never thought I could. As an added benefit, I saved a huge amount of money.
Let this be a lesson to everyone like me who is not a technical wizard. We can participate in the digital world. Just take it slowly. Read the instructions. Watch the video tutorials as well.
I look forward to seeing you on the other side of ‘I am not a technical person’.
