Building 3D is Organic and The Way Nature Does It, Now Man Can Do It

A 3D sculpture by George S. Hart

Building 3D is organic and the way nature does it. It is not with straight lines and 90 degree angles, the way man has traditionally done it. What man will do it?

Who will be first architect, engineer, or builder to accomplish this feat of 21st century structural technology? That is the question at hand.

Nature has always defined its structures through a system of weaving and construction that man has wondered at. The closest anyone came until now was the geodesic dome. But even it used straight lines with angles. It is not organic either, the way nature is. Building 3D, or using the latest 3D printing technology, will allow man to come as close to building like nature in history.

Building 3D or 3D printing, as it is more commonly known, has resulted in the miracle of creating human organs. 3D printing has also allowed for traditional artforms to metamorphosize. Besides that, everyday objects, like shoes can be created with 3D printing. As amazing as all of this sounds, and it is, it is still the beginning. The question for this post remains,’who will be the first to build a 3D printed building’?

Do Not Eat Animals, Take Care of Them Instead

Do not Eat Animals, Take care of them. Eat Quinoa Instead

This comment, ‘Do not eat animals, take care of them instead’, comes from three year old Luiz Antonio and is explained by him in this video.

I think he would be delighted to see this field of quinoa, one of nature’s super foods, bountiful and beautiful.

Luiz Antonio is considered one of the rainbow children. Rainbow children are explained in the link provided. For those who question or wonder if we are evolving in consciousness, this post is a very interesting study.

According to Doreen Virtue’s AngelTherapy.com, there are three levels of children on the earth today who have evolved consciousness, rainbow children, crystal children and indigo children. People who are familiar with these children would not be surprised to hear a three year old say, ‘Do not Eat Animals, Take Care of Them’.

To eat meat or not to eat meat is an age-old discussion between omnivores and various types of non-meat eaters. Documentation about meat consumption is provided in this post by NPR.org. The United Nations has been in the forefront of discussions, suggestions and endorsements about various foods of late. A post from TakePart.com included a video featuring Stephen Colbert and the suggested ‘UN endorsed bugs for protein diet’ or comically called mini-livestock.

Another more palatable and much less controversial declaration has been made by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, ‘International Year of the Quinoa IYQ-2013’. I plan to get into a much more in-depth conversation about ‘super foods’ like quinoa in future posts.

For now, enjoy this post and the accompanying Alison*s Art Online Magazines, at right. Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments area.

Label Reading 101

Label Reading 101

Label Reading 101 should be a required course for anyone considering buying packaged food.

The amounts of sugars, salt and chemicals are enough to make anyone sick. As a matter of fact, they do. Packaged food often equals processed food. Many sophisticated consumers know that processed food also equals unhealthy food.

An article in TakePart.com cautions consumers about reading labels no matter what promises and temptations the front of a packaged food offers. This article includes ingredients photos of about a half dozen typical foods.
Label Reading 101 and a magnifying glass are both required here.

It is both shocking and unnecessary to add most of the ingredients. In fact, a study was done on two types of macaroni and cheese dinners. One is sold in the US; the other in the UK. They had the same ingredients and even tasted the same. The exception was that the US version also had food coloring. Two moms in the US protested the addition of this needless and not nutritious chemical. They actually petitioned Kraft to remove the dye. Read about it here.

Food additives are big business in the US. Packaged and processed foods are the mainstay of many diets. It is easy to see why we have a nation of so many sick people.

A major food issue currently has to do with GMO foods. GMO stands for genetically modified food. US companies are not required to label food as such. The consequences have been fascinating. Other countries refuse to buy food stuffs from us. An app is now available that lets you know if a product you want to buy is genetically modified. You can read more about that in this article.

Good luck food shopping. Don’t forget the lessons from Label Reading 101. Especially make sure to read the fine print on the ingredients part of the label.

Beware Online Fuel

Online fuel is a code name for all the quick energy, high carbo loading food we consume when we are glued to our computers for 12 hours + a day.

Online fuel are foods that we can quickly grab out of the frig, freezer or kitchen cabinet. We can heat them in a micro wave; popcorn is the best example. It suffices to say that short of the take out order of pizza or Asian food, online fuel is not the most balanced food program.

Our featured image is courtesy of TechCrunch and their article, Don’t Let Your Company’s Scale Tip Your Bathroom Scale. Just the title pretty well says it all.

Here’s a parable from Instagram that tells the story of how they changed their eating habits and exercise routines after their acquisition by Facebook. Having a billion dollars sure can take of the pressure and desire to consume online fuel while glued to the technological ball and chain for endless hours.

In future posts, we will explore more ways to overcome the online fuel obsession. Decreasing hours chained to a computer may be a different addiction to deal with. So we will focus on one thing at a time.

Prevention or Mutilation?

Angelina Jolie on the cover of People Magazine

Prevention or mutilation? This is the question being asked. Angelina Jolie’s dramatic decision to have a double mastectomy as cancer prevention, rather than because of the existence of the disease, has the holistic pundits up in arms.

It also begs these questions. What is prevention? What is treatment? What is unnecessary or mutilation? This information filled video gives the holistic perspective on the ramifications of such a severe decision regarding prevention or mutilation.

Here is an article from People Magazine about her story. It does not go into any medical details or explanations for her decision.

Here is another People Magazine article that sheds no further light on the topic. The only additional information is that she plans to remove her ovaries as well. Is this prevention or mutilation?

This New York Times op-ed piece sheds some light on the story. The piece is written by Angelina Jolie, herself, and explains both her decision and a bit of the process.

The Pink Lotus Breast Center is mentioned as the place where she was treated. I wonder how many of the women who decide to follow her example would have access to such luxurious facilities and care?

Sterile Seeds Are Replacing Heirloom Seeds

heirloom rainbow chard

Heirloom seeds have become an endangered species because sterile seed are replacing heirloom seeds.

Not long ago, people had seeds from one planting season to the next. It was nature’s gift to man. Seeds came from grown food to grow food for the next year. Now it is different. GMO seeds are sterile. No new seeds come from their crops. Farmers become dependent upon corporations such as Monsanto to supply them with expensive seeds every year.

There is also grave concern about the foods that result from GMO seeds and the potential manmade monster meals they create. Nature used to provide abundantly, naturally and healthfully. In trying to outsmart Mother Nature, ‘Man-santo’ and other corporate giants may very well outsmart himself.

Daily, new incidences of the horrors of GMO plants and foods surface. The epidemic of Indian suicides is probably the most distressing. Farmers in India are being convinced that Monsanto’s GMO cotton will deliver greater yield. Thus they will gain greater profits. The opposite is happening.

Farmers are going into debt to buy sterile GMO seeds. They do not regenerate from year to year. They require a great deal of water which is often unavailable. In addition, certain pesticides become essential. They are costly. The small business farmer can not afford either the GMO seeds nor the pesticides. Debt results. Because debt is not passed on to the family upon a death, the farmer decides that suicide is his only option.

Fields of wheat in Oregon were supposed to be GMO free. They were found to contain it when the wheat refused to die when Monsanto’s herbicide RoundUp did not kill the wheat. It resisted it. The Zombie GMO wheat has resulted in Japan and Korea canceling orders of soft white wheat for fear of GMO contamination. This is economically disastrous for US farmers. Where again is the benefit from using GMO seed rather than heirloom seeds?

Despite these examples of potential world economic disaster, big agribusiness companies like Monsanto continue to produce GMO seeds. Major corporations are producing them, congratulating themselves for it and the government is going along for the ride.

HEALING MODALITIES: Flower Essences

Guernsey Lily remedy from Channel Isle Flower Remedies

Flower Essences are intrinsic to holistic healing modalities. They are used for emotional healing.

The first known ‘modern’ company to produce flower essences or remedies, part of the vibrational medicine system, was the Bach Flower Company. It was started by Edward Bach in the Uk about 75 years ago. The value of the remedies for healing was based on an inside-out rather than an outside-in disease process. Bach believed that disease starts as dis-ease. If an emotional issue could be dealt with at that level, disease might be avoidable.

His process for identifying which flower was right for which emotional imbalance was never recorded it. There are many other companies that emerged all over the world since then. They were based on Bach’s theory but not his system. No other company or person could corroborate with Bach’s conclusions.

The theory goes something like this. The vibrational ‘personality’ of a flower could be transfered to water when the flower was left on top of water in sunlight. How Bach figured out which flower had what personality is unknown. Fortunately others did uncovered it after much time and experimentation.

Today one can choose from tropical flower essences to Alaskan. They are truly available worldwide. The essences are preserved in alcohol, once the ‘personality’ is imbued into the water. For purposes of storage and then sales, the liquid is transferred to small dropper bottles. The liquid is consumed a few drops at a time over the course of the day. One tends to know when the remedy is no longer necessary by the improvement in emotional state.

Vegan Chicken Soup

VEGAN CHICKEN SOUP: Relief in minutes

Vegan chicken soup in progress. Takes minutes to make, tastes great and works wonders.
Vegan chicken soup in progress. Takes minutes to make, tastes great and works wonders.
My husband just turned 67 yesterday. You’d never know it by his appearance. He has the face of a kid, well a fifty something kid. He is actually in school preparing for a new career. You may wonder why I am mentioning all of this. It sets the stage for this post, ‘vegan chicken soup’.

Well, my husband woke up sneezing and tired, after a full day of school yesterday. I had to do something to help him feel better. So I went to my mental medicine cabinet of folk remedies.

It is amazing how much money people spend in the drug store for all sorts of patent medicines when the traditional remedies cost pennies and work wonders. Hot water is the base of almost every remedy including the patent, over the counter cold cures.

I filled the tea kettle and let the water get good and hot while I grated some ginger and squeezed some lemon juice from organic lemons. I went to my medicine cabinet (the hand painted on that was my grandmother’s jelly cabinet) to get the echinacea/golden seal drops.

You pretty much have the process of the recipe from my description. Here is a list of the ingredients.

• At least two cups of hot water, good and hot, not necessarily boiling

• 1 inch of fresh (preferably organic) ginger, grated or cut into tiny pieces

• the juice of 1/2 lemon (preferably organic)

• a dropper full of echinacea/goldenseal liquid extract (drops) either with alcohol or alcohol free depending on your preference

By the time the water is good and hot, all the other ingredients are prepared. Drink at least two cups, rest (if possible) stay warm, eat alkaline foods and feel better soon.

FUTURE TOPICS:
• What is vegan food
• my hand painted medicine cabinet
• an alkaline diet

The Healing Icon Is the Pansy Flower

a box of flower remedies in blue bottles

I choose the pansy flower as the Healing Icon. Why?

In the universe of flower essences, also knows as flower remedies, energy medicine, vibrational medicine as well as other similar terms, all part of the HEALING section of this weblog, the pansy flower (vibration) is considered a most powerful healing tool.

While I was working on the beginnings of Alison*s Heirloom Projects, I would tire easily and get sick from the intensity of my attempts to manifest the Healing  information for Alison*s Heirloom Projects. I found that I needed something to keep me healthy, sustain my energy and strengthen my perseverance. Therefore, I turned to pansy.

Coincidently, I am drawn to pansies, the flower, as well. In the spring time, I constantly have to stop and look at the pansies where ever I go. Many of my stationery and accessory items also have pansy images on them. I did not plan it that way. I am just drawn to them and other people give me gifts with things that have pansies on them.

Since this flower appealed to me both visually and vibrationally, I decided to do some research about pansy. Part of that research involved trying the remedy itself. At first I did not know if it even existed since the sets of flower remedies I had did not include pansy.

I did find it in ‘flower remedy’ form from a small company in New England. I used it to my satisfaction. Since I have taken up the HEALING project again and am run down again, I am going to resume taking this remedy. I still have some left. But even if I had run out, my current research has revealed many companies that now carry it.

I know I have jumped ahead and perhaps have left some of you behind. So bear with me. This post refers not only to the HEALING aspect of Alison*s Art but also to the healing studies section of Alison*s Heirloom Projects. Plenty more will be revealed in future blog posts and on the pages of this weblog. If you can’t wait, there is also an abundance of sources to choose from for your reading pleasure.

Your questions and thoughts are welcome in the blog post comments area. Please keep in mind that this post is for informational purposes only. I do not prescribe healing tools, vibrational or otherwise. If you wish to try anything, please seek a qualified practitioner.

Hello Again in 2013

hello again in2013

Hello, again. Yes, I know that the last article posted here was over a year ago. It is not because I wanted it that way. Granted, Alison*s Art, Inc. and Alison*s Heirloom Projects had to be put on the back burner. But not for lack of love, interest or passion for DESIGN | FOOD | HEALING.

It is because there have been so many projects demanding the front burners, in fact ‘all burners’. They have involved social media, learning it and using it. I love this new means of communication and sharing information. But there was something missing, nurturing the creative spirit in me, using my hands beyond the keyboard.

That is not to say that social media is not creative. I have been very creative with the projects that have taken me from Alison*s Art, Inc. to dba Marketing Bytes including:

Working on socia media graphics for or as:
The Social Media Marketing Graphic Designer
Page Cover Mastery

Blog writing for or as:
Digital Ethos.org

The New York Graphic Design Examiner

Covering non-profit and timely activities:

Take Heart Association Project

Creating a facebook archive for all my project pages:
Pages Provided by Alison Gilbert

Now it is time to give the other side of my brain a good dunking, a full-fledged dowsing in free-flowing, self-expressing, like a swim in cool clear spring like waterfall. Many of the creative tools I have used in the past have found new expressions. They want to be share with you for your education and enjoyment. Feel free to add your own spices or variations on the recipes provided. Consider these ‘open source’ resources. Use what I have provided, share them and build upon them.

Between Alison*s Blog and the pages of the website section, there will be many expressions and examples of my new endeavors. Enjoy them. You can also read curated posts on Alison*s Art Online Magazines in the right hand column.

And, please do let me know what you think of what you find here. Comments, suggestions, questions and your own creations are always welcome.
